Whispers on the wind

Sometimes you have to do a little detective work to track down the origin of a new series of artwork, and Whispers on the Wind probably started 10 years before with an innocuous sketch I made while at the Black Dog Coffee house in St. Paul. ‘Let Photosynthesis be your Guide’, 2001, was that drawing. ‘Wonderful’, 2005, came a few years later, then ‘Little Sparrow’, 2011, was the first one that was intentional and went consciously in the direction it would solidify into. The rest is history, har har. The series gained momentum when I realized how many thoughts and sayings were stuck in my head from reading books. ‘Lucky’ references Moby Dick, ‘Reality Sandwiches’ comes from Allen Ginsburg, ‘Don Quixote’, well, Cervantes, of course. But others are just me having fun with words, ideas, or just silliness on my part.
